5. Installazione:

 1. Non collegare la stampante alla macchina Linux tramite USB.
 2. Estrarre il contenuto del file zip.

 3. Eseguire lo script di installazione facendo doppio clic sull'icona e
    poi sul pulsante "Run in Terminal" o eseguire il file dalla riga di comando.
 4. Seguire le istruzioni visualizzate sullo schermo.

6. Per aggiungere manualmente la stampante in CUPS:
---------------------------------------
 1. Collegare la stampante alla macchina Linux tramite USB.
 2. Aprire un browser e andare su "http://localhost:631"
 3. Fare clic su "Aggiungi stampante" e immettere i dati richiesti, come nome e descrizione.
    Nell'elenco a discesa Dispositivo, selezionare "Lexmark USB Backend #1 (Lexmark
    <modello stampante>)" o "Lexmark Network Backend #1 (Lexmark <modello stampante>)".
    Accertarsi di aver selezionato la periferica corretta. Se il modello della stampante non viene visualizzato
    nell'elenco, la macchina non  riuscita a rilevare la stampante. Con alcune distribuzioni pu essere necessario
    riavviare la macchina per farla rilevare.

    Se la periferica non viene visualizzata nell'elenco,  possibile cercare il file PPD.
    I file ppd si trovano nella cartella /usr/local/lexmark/legacy/etc/. Di seguito sono riportati
    vari modelli supportati di questo driver con il relativo 
    file ppd:

 4. Selezionare il nome del modello della stampante Lexmark. Una volta aggiunta
    la stampante, dovrebbero essere disponibili le "Opzioni stampante". Fare clic su "Imposta opzioni stampante"
    (opzionale) o proseguire con il passo successivo.
 5.  possibile accedere alle funzioni di gestione della stampante immettendone l'indirizzo nel
    browser: http://localhost:631/printers/<nome della stampante>. Il nome
    della stampante  quello specificato al punto 3.
 6. Stampare una pagina di prova per accertarsi di aver installato correttamente il software.

7. Disinstallazione:
------------------
  Per i pacchetti Debian:
   1. Accedere come root.

8. Open source:

   1. Il programma di installazione di questo driver  stato realizzato usando l'open source Nixstaller.
      Nixstaller  coperto dalla licenza GNU General Public License version 2. Per ottenere

9. Domande frequenti:
------------------------------
  D: Come  possibile utilizzare l'opzione installabile "Vassoio 2" visualizzata nelle impostazioni della coda della stampante?
  R: Accertarsi che la stampante supporti questa opzione. Se la supporta, installare il vassoio carta aggiuntivo, 
     quindi impostare l'opzione della stampante come installata. Ora  possibile usare il Vassoio 2 come origine della carta durante la stampa.

  D: Come si avvia la casella degli strumenti della stampante Lexmark dalla riga di comando?
  R: Nella finestra del terminale, digitare /usr/local/lexmark/legacy/bin/.scripts/lxtoolbox, quindi premere Invio.

  D: Come  possibile trovare il collegamento al desktop per la casella degli strumenti della stampante Lexmark?
  R: 1. Dal file system o dal file manager, fare clic su Root se necessario, quindi su usr > share > applications.
     2. Avviare la casella degli strumenti della stampante Lexmark (lxtoolboxlegacy.desktop) o copiarla sul desktop.

  D: Come  possibile utilizzare l'opzione di acquisizione in GIMP sotto Fedora 10?
  R:  necessario che Xsane sia installato separatamente poich non viene incluso dal sistema operativo.

  D: Come  possibile installare Xsane-Gimp in Fedora 10?
  R: 1. Il programma pu essere scaricato all'indirizzo http://www.rpmfind.net
     2. Eseguire l'installazione tramite yum in Fedora digitando rpm -ivh [packagename].rpm sulla riga di comando.

  D: Perch durante la configurazione di un'impostazione wireless si verifica un errore di comunicazione quando  attivata la connessione Ethernet sul PC?
  R: Se il computer  collegato a una rete Ethernet e una rete wireless
     contemporaneamente, disattivare la connessione Ethernet per abilitare quella wireless
     completamente.

  D: Perch il layout non  corretto quando si stampa con formati di carta pi piccoli (ad esempio, EnvelopeKakugata4)?
  R: L'impostazione dei formati carta nel Web CUPS potrebbero non aggiornare le impostazioni "lpoptions". Alcuni filtri di CUPS nella distribuzione potrebbero richiedere l'impostazione del formato pagina 
     di "lpoptions" per il layout corretto.

      possibile impostare il formato pagina manualmente ogni volta:
	Esempio: lp -d <queuename> -o PageSize=EnvelopeKakugata4 <filename>

     Oppure  possibile accertarsi che sia impostato in "lpoptions":
	Esempio:  lpoptions -d <queuename> PageSize=EnvelopeKakugata4

  D: Perch il processo di stampa si interrompe o si inceppa durante la stampa di uno striscione?
  R: Il problema di layout descritto in precedenza influisce anche sulla stampa dello striscione. Web CUPS potrebbe non aggiornare le impostazioni "lpoptions" i cui filtri 
     sono necessari per il layout di pagina. I processi potrebbero interrompersi o incepparsi a causa della chiusura non corretta dei filtri.

  D: Perch la stampa non  corretta quando si utilizzano alcuni formati carta come Striscione A4, Striscione Letter e EnvelopeKakugata4?
  R: I formati carta come quelli menzionati in precedenza vengono gestiti come formati carta personalizzati. L'impostazione di un formato carta personalizzato in CUPS 1.3.11 fino a CUPS 1.4.1 tramite Web CUPS
     non viene applicata.

     Per risolvere questo problema:
     1. Usando il comando lp, indicare il formato pagina che si desidera usare per la stampa.
	Esempio: lp -d <queuename> -o PageSize=EnvelopeKakugata4 <filename>

     2. Un'altra soluzione  di impostare il valore del formato pagina prima di stampare usando il comando lpoptions.
	Esempio:  lpoptions -d <queuename> PageSize=EnvelopeKakugata4

  D:  Perch una parte dell'output di stampa del file di testo risulta incompleta?
  R:  Questo  causato dal formato del file di testo salvato con la codifica di carattere Western ISO.
     
      Quando si stampa un file testo, assicurarsi che questo sia salvato usando la codifica UTF-8.
 
      La codifica del file di testo in questione pu essere verificata o modificata usando il comando File->Salva con nome dell'applicazione Text Editor.  La procedura  la seguente:
      1)  Avviare Text Editor situato nella cartella Accessori del menu Start.
      2)  Dalla barra dei menu di Text Editor, scegliere File->Salva con nome.
      3)  Nella finestra di dialogo Salva con nome visualizzata, individuare l'elenco a discesa Codifica carattere  nel quale viene mostrata la codifica del file di testo.
      4)  Per cambiare la codifica del file di testo in UTF-8, scegliere tale opzione dall'elenco a discesa quindi fare clic su Salva.
 
      Un'altra opzione per controllare o modificare la codifica di un file di testo  mediante Terminal.
      Per verificare la codifica del file di testo, digitare il seguente comando in Terminal:
                      file NOMEFILE_DEL_FILE_DI_TESTO
 
                      ad esempio:
                          file esempio.txt
 
      Per modificare la codifica del file di testo, digitare il seguente comando in Terminal:
                            iconv -f CODIFICA_ORIGINALE_DEL_FILE_DI_TESTO -t NUOVA_CODIFICA_DEL_FILE_DI_TESTO < NOMEFILE_DEL_FILE_DI_TESTO > NUOVO_NOMEFILE_DEL_FILE_DI_TESTO
 
                            ad esempio:
                                iconv -f ISO88592 -t UTF-8 < esempio.txt > nuovo_esempio.txt   

  Q: Why am I getting incorrect output when scanning with some media sizes such as Legal?
  A: Media sizes such as those mentioned above are actually scan sizes and are evaluated into
     width and height attributes. Applications like xsane and scanimage can opt to override
     these attributes, which the Lexmark scanner driver simply use. 

     When scanning with media size Legal, scanimage and scanadf applications have been observed 
     to make rounding adjustments with regards to height. XSane is not known to make such 
     adjustments.
