Updating the Controller Firmware

The LSI Storage Authority software enables you to update the controller firmware.

Note:

You can flash both the BIOS and EFI using any of the BIOS or EFI radio buttons.

Perform the following steps to update the controller firmware.

  1. Navigate to the Controller dashboard.
  2. Click Update Firmware.
    The Update Firmware window appears. It displays the current controller firmware version.
  3. Click Browse to locate and open the following files:
    • .rom update file for SAS35xx controllers.
    • .bin update file for IR3/IT controllers.
  4. Click Update.

    The Update Firmware windows displays the current controller firmware version and the controller firmware version that is selected to be flashed.

  5. Select the Confirm check box and click Flash Firmware.

    After the update is complete, a message is displayed that confirms the success of the update and displays the new version of the controller firmware.

    Note:

    User updates to the firmware might cause a flash error event. Ignore the error message.

    When flashing IT firmware, BIOS, or UFI, LSA displays a message to reboot the server no matter the firmware version.
